[Saba Sports News] The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken swift action following the disappointing performance of the team in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. A three-member committee, comprising Director Enayet Hossain Siraj, Mahbubul Anam and Akram Khan has been formed to thoroughly review and rectify the side’s shortcomings.
Under the captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh had subpar run in the tournament, securing only two wins in nine matches, becoming the first team to be eliminated. The victories against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were the only highlights, with Bangladesh securing their qualification for the 2025 Champions Trophy due to a better NRR.
BCB, in a statement, emphasized the committee’s mission to analyze the factors behind the team’s underperformance. The committee aims to present its findings to the board, paving the way for targeted improvements before the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled in June next year.
“The committee’s objective is to scrutinize the factors contributing to the team’s underperformance in the tournament and it will subsequently present its findings to the Board,” stated BCB on Wednesday.
As the committee gears up to scrutinize the team’s performance, the focus will be on identifying weaknesses and implementing necessary changes to enhance the team’s prospects in the T20 World Cup 2024.
