Aaron Jones has secured a contract in the CPL thanks to his success for the United States at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Jones was signed by St Lucia Kings in Monday’s draft for the 2024 season, which runs from August 29 to October 4. Jones is considered a local player due to his Barbados passport.
In the World Cup’s opening match, Jones amassed 94 runs without hitting out of the bat against Canada. He also contributed crucial 36 runs in the USA’s match against Pakistan, which they went on to win in the Super Over. He was not used in the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots CPL 2019 roster, but he has played in the West Indies’ regional setup for Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges in the past.
The majority of the recruiting for the six CPL 2024 teams had already been completed through pre-signings and retentions. Kyle Mayers became the first player signed in Monday’s draft, joining the Patriots. Along with Ryan John and Veerasammy Permaul, Mikyle Louis, who made his Test debut at Lord’s last week, will also play for the Patriots.
The fast bowler Isai Thorne, who represented the West Indies in the previous two Under-19 World Cups, has secured a deal with the Barbados Royals. He is presently in the UK as a “development player” and net bowler with the West Indies Test team. Nathan Sealy and Kadeem Alleyne were both picked by the Royals.
Along with Ronaldo Alimohamed and Matthew Nandu, Raymon Reifer, who last played T20I cricket for the West Indies, joined the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Jones, Khari Campbell, Johann Jeremiah, Mikkel Govia, and Akeem Auguste are among the players on the Kings team.
Roshon Primus, Justin Greaves, Jahmar Hamilton, Teddy Bishop, and Kofi James have all been signed by Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who will take the place of Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL 2024. Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders have added Nathan Edward and Shaquere Parris to their emerging player positions.
