[Saba Sports News] Quetta Gladiators is set to witness a management shuffle as former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson is likely to come onboard as the head coach of the team.
As reported by ESPNCricinfo, Watson and Quetta Gladiators have entered an association with the Aussie replacing former Pakistan player Moin Khan, who will be elevated to the position of the team director. This change will be enforced from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.
Notably, the Gladiators have faced league stage exits in the last four PSL seasons with Sarfaraz Ahmed as their captain.
The franchise was once known for its consistency as they made it to the finals three times in the first four editions. They won the title in 2019, and interestingly Watson was at the forefront of that triumph, winning the Player of the Tournament award.
When he takes over the role of the head coach in the same side, expectations would be sky-high as Quetta would rely on him for a turnaround.
After his playing career ended in 2020, Watson moved to coaching. He was appointed as the assistant coach by Delhi Capitals in 2022. He also became the head coach of the San Francisco Unicorns in the Major League Cricket.
