The BCCI informed on Saturday that Shubha Satheesh
will not be playing in the current one-off women’s Test match against England
in Navi Mumbai due to a finger fracture.
In her debut on the international scene, she amassed
the highest score in India’s 428 all out first innings with 69, but she did not
bat in the team’s 186 for 6 declared second innings.
When Shubha sustained the injuries is unclear. When
India bowled on Friday, she was spotted in the dugout with her left hand’s ring
finger in a splint. On Thursday’s first day of play, she had attended the press
conference following the game, but there had been no indication of the injury.
She participated in Friday’s pre-match warm-up for India.
However, it was revealed that Shubha had undergone
scanning, and on Friday, the on-air pundits stated that she had sustained a
tiny fracture in her finger.
She now has to compete to be ready for the Australia
Test match, which is scheduled to begin at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
For Shubha, 24, the past few weeks have been exciting.
A few days after being called up for the first time by India for the Test
matches against England and Australia, she was selected in the WPL 2024 auction
by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
“I can call it as just my time,” she said on
Thursday. “I see only good side of it right now and it feels amazing – one
after another good news coming up. Feels amazing to be part of.”
