After recovering from dengue, Indian pacer Umran Malik says he feels better and is concentrating on getting ready for the Duleep Trophy, which begins on September 5. After making a full recovery from his illness, Umran joined Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) to be ready for the next domestic season.
Speaking to ANI, Umran said, “I am feeling better and now I am fully focused on the preparation of the Duleep trophy at NCA. I hope, I will be doing good in this season for my team.”
Since making his debut for India internationally in 2022, Umran has participated in ten One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and eight Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), amassing 13 and 11 wickets in each format. In both formats, his best bowling average is 3/48.
Umran, who made his first-class cricket debut in 2021, has taken 16 wickets at an average of 44.62 in 12 games, with the best stats coming from a 3/25 effort.
Umran became well-known during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for his outstanding bowling skills. He took 22 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 14 games at an average of 20.18, including a five-wicket haul. That season, he finished fourth overall and as the team’s top wicket-taker.
Top Indian players from the international circuit as well as up-and-coming talent will compete at the highest level in the Duleep Trophy, which launches red-ball cricket in the domestic season.
September 5, 2024, is the scheduled start date of the event in M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
