The revised women’s Future Tours Program for the 2025–29 cycle has designated specific slots for the Hundred (August) and WBBL (November), while the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will take place in January–February starting in 2026.
In order to avoid conflict with the most profitable women’s franchise league, Cricket Australia has pushed back its women’s marquee summer matches from mid-January to February-March as a result of the BCCI moving the WPL.
The final international matches Australia will host in January until 2029 will be the 2024–25 women’s Ashes, which kicks off on January 12. Following the WPL in January and February 2026, Australia will tour India for one Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is as the first of their major home series in their new window.
With Zimbabwe’s inclusion in the 2017 FTP, the ICC Women’s ODI Championship now features 11 teams. This comes after Bangladesh and Ireland were added to the current cycle, which will end with the ODI World Cup in India in October of the following year. With Zimbabwe’s addition, the championship now includes all of the ICC’s Full Members, with the exception of Afghanistan, which does not have a women’s team.
The Women’s Championship has been expanded to include four home games and four away games for each nation over a three-year period. Zimbabwe will host South Africa, the West Indies, Ireland, and Sri Lanka in their first appearance in the next cycle. They will also go to Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and New Zealand.
As anticipated, the new FTP will only allow India and Pakistan to compete in international events rather than bilateral series.
Teams have planned tri-series as part of their preparation for ICC events during this cycle, which is another addition that has been mostly driven by members.
“Ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, England will host India and New Zealand for such a three-team T20I tournament while Ireland will host Pakistan and the West Indies,” ICC general manager Wasim Khan said. “Sri Lanka and the West Indies are among other Members scheduled to host tri-series, in 2027 and 2028, respectively.”
