[Saba Sports News] Pakistan cricket seems to be in a rough patch, with a string of underwhelming performances. After recently losing a home Test series to Bangladesh, they are now preparing for a Test series against England.
These performances have prompted numerous critics to call for urgent changes. Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin also weighed in, expressing his sympathy for the team’s current state.
“I am speaking the truth when I say that the current state of Pakistan Cricket and the phase they are going through makes me feel a little sorry,” Ashwin said in a video. “Some of the most exceptional cricketers have played for Pakistan, and it was such a great team.”
Ashwin also commented on Pakistan’s frequent captaincy changes, likening it to a game of musical chairs.
“Their whole musical chairs situation is truly something. The music keeps playing, and they just keep grabbing a chair, that is how it feels,” he said. “They lost in the 2023 ODI World Cup, then Babar resigned, then Afridi was given the captaincy, then again Babar was given limited overs, and Shan Masood was made the captain in Test cricket. And look at the situation—Pakistan have not won a Test match at home for a long time, maybe around 1,000 days, three years have passed.”
As Pakistan grapples with these challenges, they look ahead to their Test series against England, which begins on October 7 in Multan.
