[Saba Sports News] Team India registered a brilliant win against Sri Lanka in the first T20I of their ongoing series, defeating the hosts by 43 runs. Suryakumar Yadav led India to take the series lead with a strong performance, posting a total of 213 runs.
Sri Lanka started well, with Pathum Nissanka attacking the Indian bowlers early on. However, India’s bowlers turned the game around. Riyan Parag took three wickets, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel each grabbed two, and Mohammed Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi took one each, securing the victory.
After the game, Axar Patel praised Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, calling him a bowler’s captain. “He gives the bowlers a free hand to decide their fields and backs them up even if they are hit. As a player, I have a good bond with him and have enjoyed playing under his captaincy,” Axar said in the post-match press conference.
Patel appreciated Yadav’s approach even when he was hit for runs. “He told me what other options were and what could be done to get wickets. He said there’s no problem if you’re hit for a four or a six. That gives you confidence as a bowler. If your captain backs you, you can try out other things,” Patel added.
