[Saba Sports News] South Africa is set to begin their two-match Test series in Bangladesh on October 21, but they’ve suffered a major setback as captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the first Test due to a left tricep strain.
This adds to his recent injury struggles, having missed part of the ODIs against Ireland.
To replace Bavuma, uncapped Dewald Brevis joins the squad, while Bavuma is expected to return for the second Test in Chattogram on October 29.
Additionally, left-arm pacer Nandre Burger is out for the series with a lumbar stress fracture and will undergo rehabilitation. Lungi Ngidi has been called up as his replacement.
The South African team will hold a camp in Pretoria at the Centre of Excellence before heading to Bangladesh.
