[Saba Sports News] In preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh is scheduled to tour the USA for a three-match T20I series in May 2024, a strategic move to gear up a month before the tournament kicks off. This series is a significant part of their preparations, providing them with the opportunity to adapt to the playing conditions. Historically, Bangladesh has competed in two T20Is on American soil, both against the West Indies.
Simultaneously, the USA is looking forward to a five-match T20I series against Canada in April at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, Texas, setting the stage for their encounter with Bangladesh. Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, the CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), emphasized the series’ importance for Bangladesh, considering it a crucial preparatory step for the World Cup. He stressed the value of the team familiarizing themselves with the conditions to optimize their World Cup campaign.
Meanwhile, Venu Pisike, the chairman of USA Cricket, highlighted the significance of the series for the American team, viewing it as an essential phase to test and refine their strategies and team dynamics before the World Cup. Both nations are looking to make the most of this opportunity, with the USA and Canada placed in Group A and Bangladesh in Group D for the upcoming World Cup, where Bangladesh will face Nepal and the Netherlands in their group matches in the West Indies.
