[Saba Sports News] Brooklyn Nets’ Ben Simmons is facing ongoing injury challenges, having missed five out of the last six games due to a back problem. This condition is expected to extend his absence from the court.
The 27-year-old player has been diagnosed with nerve irritation on the lower left side of his body, as reported by Brian Lewis of the New York Post. He is anticipated to spend some time in rehab. The Nets have officially reported Simmons’ condition as nerve impingement in his lower left back.
Over the past two seasons, Simmons has missed considerable playing time due to back issues. He didn’t play in any of the 27 regular season games or the playoffs in the 2021-22 season after being acquired by the Nets. In May 2022, Simmons underwent surgery for multiple herniated discs in his right back and was out for 40 games in the 2022-23 season.
According to the report, this new injury differs from his previous back problems, and surgery won’t be necessary this time. Simmons has averaged 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in six games this season.
