[Saba Sports News] England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, sustained a hamstring injury during The Hundred 2024 while playing for the Northern Superchargers.
This injury has sidelined him from the ongoing red-ball series against Sri Lanka, but he is targeting a return for the upcoming series against Pakistan. Stokes tore his left hamstring, ruling him out for the rest of the summer.
England is set to play Pakistan in the first Test on October 7 in Multan, with the team arriving in the country on October 2. Stokes is eager to make his comeback before the subcontinent tour.
It’s notable that during England’s 2022 tour of Pakistan, they achieved a 3-0 series whitewash, with Stokes bowling just 35 overs due to a chronic knee injury. Similarly, he bowled only five overs in the series against India earlier in 2024. As he prepares for the crucial tour, the 33-year-old expressed his determination to return swiftly.
“I’m all good, just slowly progressing. It’s still early days in the rehab period, but I want to get back as quickly as possible. Being around the medical team here with the physio and doctors gives me the best chance of returning sooner rather than later,” Stokes said in a video posted by the England Cricket Board (ECB).
