[Saba Sports News] Valtteri Bottas, the Finnish
Formula One driver known for his distinctive “mullet” hairstyle and
mustache, has expressed his willingness to make a change for a potential
reunion with Mercedes. In a recent interview, Bottas stated that he would be
open to shaving off his mustache and cutting his hair if it meant returning to
the Mercedes team. Bottas had previously raced alongside Lewis Hamilton at
Mercedes until the end of the 2021 season. Afterward, he made the switch to the
Sauber team, where he has been competing ever since. However, his contract with
Sauber is set to expire at the end of this year. Speculation has arisen
regarding the future of the Sauber team, as there are plans for Audi to acquire
100% ownership. This acquisition may impact the team’s future direction, and
Sauber has not yet revealed its intentions regarding a contract renewal with
Bottas. Faced with the potential risk of losing his job, Bottas has taken the
initiative to express his interest in returning to the Mercedes team. While the
idea of Bottas sacrificing his facial hair and hairstyle may seem extreme to
some, he views it as a worthwhile “sacrifice” if it means rejoining a
team capable of challenging for championships.
