[Saba Sports News] All-rounder Cameron Green struggled in the first half of IPL 2024 but improved when moved to the middle order. He also contributed with the ball towards the end of the campaign, which may secure him a spot in Australia’s playing XI for the ongoing T20 World Cup. The 2021 champions start their campaign against Oman on June 5. With skipper Mitchell Marsh unable to bowl, Green has a chance to fill the gap.
“I’ve been exposed to various roles in the last few years, and I feel I can jump into different positions. I see myself plugging holes in the team this tournament,” Green told The Daily Star.
Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins was in excellent form during IPL 2024, leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to the final. Although they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders, Cummins is confident in his T20 bowling ahead of the World Cup.
“We played 17 games straight in the IPL, which helped me get the pace of the game and execute the required balls for T20 cricket. I feel well-placed for the global tournament,” Cummins told CA.
