[Saba Sports News] Australian all-rounder Cameron Green recently provided an update after undergoing back surgery, sharing pictures of his recovery journey.
The 25-year-old, who has played 28 Tests, 28 ODIs, and 13 T20Is, sustained his fifth stress fracture during the Australia-England ODI series last month. As a result, Green opted for lower spine surgery in New Zealand.
In his social media post, Green appeared upbeat, sharing photos of himself enjoying a post-surgery coffee walk. However, his recovery is expected to sideline him for more than six months.
The procedure, carried out by renowned surgeons Grahame Inglis and Rowan Schouten, involved inserting screws and a titanium cable into his lower back.
This technique, previously used successfully on cricketers like Jason Behrendorff and James Pattinson, helps stabilize the fracture and prevent future injuries.
Green will miss Australia’s upcoming five-match Test series against India, starting November 22 in Perth.
His absence leaves a significant gap in the team.
Teammate Marnus Labuschagne expressed his support, saying, “You always feel bad for people when they get injured, especially someone like Cam, who’s a big part of our Test team. But sometimes a break can bring a silver lining, and hopefully, he can come back even better. I wish him a speedy recovery.”
