[Saba Sports News] New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra and seam bowler Ben Sears were recently spotted training at the Super Kings academy, an initiative by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise.
Ravindra, who played for CSK in IPL 2024, joined Sears at the academy as they prepare for New Zealand’s one-off Test against Afghanistan starting September 9 at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, Afghanistan’s adopted home ground.
This Test marks the beginning of a lengthy subcontinental tour for New Zealand, with two Tests against Sri Lanka and three against India to follow. Ravindra, who made a significant impact during the ODI World Cup in India, was a standout performer for CSK, scoring 222 runs from 10 matches with a strike rate of 160.87.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan has named a 20-man preliminary squad for the Test, with Hashmatullah Shahidi leading the side.
However, Rashid Khan has been ruled out due to a back injury, and the final 15-member squad will be selected after a preparation camp in Greater Noida.
