[Saba Sports News] Dejounte Murray guided the Atlanta Hawks to a thrilling victory over the Boston Celtics, capping the game with a remarkable quote. Murray showcased his scoring prowess by notching a career-high 44 points in the Hawks’ 123-122 overtime triumph at State Farm Arena. Despite taking an astonishing 44 shots, Murray sealed the win with a game-winning basket as time expired.
During an on-court interview with Bally Sports following the game, Murray acknowledged that he would have preferred to take fewer shots. However, he believed that Kobe Bryant would have commended his performance.
Bryant was renowned for his propensity to take numerous shots during games, although he often did so with greater efficiency. Notably, the Lakers legend famously scored 81 points in a single game in 2006, attempting 46 shots.
While Murray’s shooting performance wasn’t the most efficient, converting 18 of his 44 attempts and 6 of 19 from three-point range, his crucial shot secured a much-needed victory for the Hawks.
With the win, the Hawks improved to a 34-39 record, holding a comfortable 6-game lead over the Brooklyn Nets for the 10th and final postseason berth in the Eastern Conference.
