Across the 10 IPL squads, a total of 77 spots (30
foreign) are available, and they will be filled at the IPL 2024 auction in
Dubai on December 19. The franchises have the largest combined purse available
for an IPL season for a “mini auction” (i.e., top-up auctions when
teams do not have to rebuild nearly from scratch) with INR 262.95 crore (about
USD 31.58 million) available to them at this auction. What is the precise
amount that each team has, and how many spaces do they need to fill?
Chennai Super Kings
Purse- INR 31.40 crore
Shopping Needs: an alternative to Ambati Rayudu. For
the middle order, they also require another Indian batter, preferably a power
hitter. In addition, there is an Indian fast bowler and a fast bowler from
abroad who may be an all-rounder.
Mumbai Indians
Purse- INR 17.75 crore
Shopping Needs: Expect them to keep an eye out for
such skill sets, since the winning Mumbai Indians sides in the past have always
included two overseas fast bowlers, one of whom is an all-rounder.
Additionally, one of those might be an all-around spin bowler.
Gujarat Titans
Purse- INR 38.15 crore
Shopping Needs: They need to replace Hardik Pandya
with a batting or bowling all-rounder, preferably from overseas, even if a
like-for-like match could be difficult. Also, Alzarri Josesph should be
replaced with a quick bowler from abroad. and a backup Indian keeper-batter in
case Wriddhiman Saha gets injured.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Purse- INR 32.70 crore
Shopping Needs: A couple of overseas quickies who
possess all-round skills will be high on the wish list. Add to that an Indian
wicket-keeper batsman.

Purse- INR 23.25 crore
Shopping Needs- Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel’s
replacements. Josh Hazlewood will be replaced with a fast bowler from abroad.
In addition, Shahbaz Ahmed, who moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad through a trade,
will be replaced by an Indian all-arounder or finisher.
SRH
Purse- INR 34 crore
Shopping Needs- Overseas allrounder (batting or
bowling), and an Indian batter. Also, an overseas wristspinner.
Delhi Capitals
Purse- 28.95 crore
Shopping Needs- An overseas fast-bowling allrounder,
an Indian keeper-batter, and an Indian finisher.
Punjab Kings
Purse- INR 29.10 crore
Shopping Needs- An all-around batsman from India will
take Shahrukh Khan’s place after he was released. a fast bowling all-rounder
from abroad.
Rajasthan Royals
Purse- INR 14.5 crore
Shopping Needs- An overseas batter or batting
allrounder, and an overseas fast bowler as back-up for Trent Boult.
