[Saba Sports News] Faf du Plessis, currently participating in the Abu Dhabi T10 for Samp Army, has revealed discussions about a potential return to international cricket. With India’s upcoming T20I tour of South Africa and the T20 World Cup just six months away, there’s speculation that Faf, along with other seasoned players, might rejoin the international arena.
When questioned about a possible comeback, Faf mentioned ongoing conversations over the past few years, particularly with the new coach, regarding the T20 World Cup. “We have been speaking about this for the last couple of years. It’s just figuring out the balance of the T20 World Cup next year. It’s certainly something we have spoken about with the new coach. Watch this space,” he stated to the broadcasters.
At 39, Faf remains one of cricket’s fittest players and credits his rigorous workout routine for this. He emphasized the importance of physical conditioning, especially as players age, to maintain performance levels against top international talent.
Participating in the Abu Dhabi T10 for the second time, Faf’s team, Morrisville Samp Army, secured a top spot in the standings after defeating Bangla Tigers. Reflecting on his experience, Faf noted the distinct difference between T10 and T20 formats, acknowledging his initial year as a learning phase and feeling more comfortable in his second stint.
Faf also praised the Abu Dhabi T10 for its role in nurturing young talent, highlighting the unpredictability and excitement of the format. He observed that players often encounter unfamiliar opponents, making adaptability and skill crucial to succeed in the high-paced, condensed format.
