[Saba Sports News] After a four-ball duck in his debut, India gave Abhishek Sharma another chance in the second T20I against Zimbabwe on Sunday, July 7. Abhishek made a strong comeback, scoring his first international century in 46 balls.
His family, often seen supporting him during the IPL 2024, celebrated from home, and the video went viral on social media. His sister Komal shared the clip, calling it the proudest moment for their family. “Dream to reality. The first century celebrations of Abhishek Sharma for India. The most proud moment for us,” she posted on X.
After the match, Abhishek had a video call with his mentor Yuvraj Singh. The BCCI shared a post showing their candid chat, with Yuvraj expressing pride in Abhishek’s achievement.
In the match, Abhishek partnered with Ruturaj Gaikwad to recover after India lost captain Shubman Gill early. Their 137-run stand saw Abhishek reach his first T20I century, becoming the tenth Indian to do so. Ruturaj scored 77 off 47 balls, and Rinku Singh finished with 48* off 22, leading India to 234/2 in 20 overs.
Zimbabwe struggled in their chase, losing wickets regularly and were bowled out for 134 in 18.4 overs. India won by 100 runs, leveling the series 1-1.
