[Saba Sports News] The Men in Blue, fresh from their victory in Barbados on June 29, arrived in Mumbai for a grand celebration after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. A cricket fan was spotted climbing a tree branch during Team India’s victory parade at Marine Drive in Mumbai on July 4.
The team’s journey home faced challenges, as they were initially stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl before being flown out on a specially arranged charter flight. The victory parade, featuring an open-top bus, commenced from Marine Drive and headed to the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Fans flooded the streets, eager to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes, with one fan even climbing a tree for a better view.
The parade was part of a day filled with celebrations. After their meeting with the PM, the players attended a BCCI felicitation function at Wankhede Stadium, with free entry for fans on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To accommodate the massive turnout and ensure smooth proceedings, Mumbai traffic police implemented several restrictions, closing seven roads in South Mumbai and prohibiting parking on ten roads.
