[Saba Sports News] Pakistan has released fast bowler Mir Hamza from the Test squad to focus on his rehabilitation in Karachi, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced on the first day of the third and final Test against England in Rawalpindi.
As reported, the 32-year-old was dealing with a niggle in his right glute, preventing him from training or bowling in Pakistan’s sessions ahead of the third Test. On Tuesday, he was seen doing rehabilitation exercises with the team’s physiotherapist.
Despite being named in the squads for the first and last two Tests, Hamza didn’t feature in the playing XI throughout the series.
His last appearance for Pakistan was in the second Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, where he took 12 wickets in as many innings, averaging 42.08.
Pakistan opted for a bowling attack with Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Aamir Jamal, alongside three specialist spinners.
Jamal’s better batting skills and the team’s spin-friendly strategy edged Hamza out of the lineup, and his injury further ruled him out of the final Test.
