[Saba Sports News] MS Dhoni, globally celebrated for both his cricketing prowess and humility, recently displayed a touching act of gratitude. In preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League season, Dhoni was seen practicing with a bat adorned with a sticker from Prime Sports, a sports shop owned by his childhood friend Paramjit Singh. This gesture is a nod to Paramjit’s early support in Dhoni’s career, including facilitating Dhoni’s first kit sponsorship with BAS (Beat All Sports).
This isn’t the first instance of Dhoni’s heartfelt acknowledgments. Somi Kohli, the owner of BAS and Dhoni’s first bat sponsor, shared that during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England, Dhoni chose not to accept any payment for using bats bearing the BAS logo. Despite the potential for a highly profitable sponsorship deal, Dhoni prioritized loyalty and gratitude towards Kohli for his support during the formative years of his career. Kohli recounted his attempts to persuade Dhoni to reconsider, even involving Dhoni’s family and financial advisor, but Dhoni remained firm in his decision.
Dhoni’s choice to forego significant earnings to honor his early supporters underscores his values and the deep connections he maintains with those who have aided his journey. His career, marked by numerous achievements including leading India to memorable victories, has also been distinguished by acts of kindness and loyalty off the field. Dhoni’s story with BAS, from receiving his first international century bat sticker to his last World Cup appearance, exemplifies the character of a man who values relationships over material gain.
