[Saba Sports News] During the third Test of the series in Rajkot between India and England, a moment of misunderstanding between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan on Day 4 caught the eye.
As Jaiswal neared his double century, he declined Sarfaraz’s call for a second run in the 94th over, bowled by Rehan Ahmed, leading to visible frustration from both captain Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz. Despite this, the pair managed to continue their partnership effectively, significantly challenging England on the fourth day.
In the broader context of India’s batting in the second innings, the team was bolstered by strong performances from Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan. Gill contributed 91 runs off 151 balls, while Jaiswal and Sarfaraz drove the team towards a commanding total. Jaiswal, following up his double century in the second Test, scored another double hundred (214* runs in 236 deliveries) in this match, joining the ranks of Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli as the third Indian to achieve double centuries in consecutive Tests.
Sarfaraz supported with a brisk 68* off 72, following his half-century in the first innings, as India declared at 430, setting England a daunting target of 557 runs. From England’s bowling lineup, Joe Root, Tom Hartley, and Rehan Ahmed each claimed a wicket.
