According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on
Tuesday, the men’s cricket squad from Afghanistan will embark on a three-match
Twenty20 International series in India in January. The first episode of the
series will air on January 11 and run until January 17.
The first encounter in the three-match Twenty20
International series is slated for January 11 in Mohali, with the second and
third matches to be played in Indore and Bengaluru on January 14 and 17,
respectively.
Although Afghanistan and India have faced each other
in a number of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Indian Cricket Council (ICC)
events, this series will be the first time these countries play a multi-match
white-ball series. India has won each of the five T20I meetings between the two
teams thus far.
“Afghanistan Cricket Board confirms that the
Afghanistan National Cricket Team will tour India for a three-match T20I series
in early January 2024. The three T20I matches are scheduled for the 11th, 14th
& 17th of January,” said a statement from ACB.
Afghanistan recently visited India for the ICC Men’s
Cricket World Cup 2023, where they secured the 6th position on the points table
after registering memorable victories against England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and
Bangladesh.
