[Saba Sports News] Amidst a tightly packed schedule, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) recently unveiled plans for a thrilling series against the Indian team. The itinerary includes three ODIs and three T20Is set to be played in July next year, immediately following the conclusion of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The comprehensive future tour program (FTP) revealed by the SLC for the upcoming year comprises an exciting lineup of matches across formats against various teams.
At home, the Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts can look forward to thrilling encounters against Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, India, New Zealand and the West Indies. Meanwhile, the team is geared up for challenging tours to Bangladesh, England, New Zealand and South Africa.
Looking back at India’s previous visit to Sri Lanka in 2021 for white-ball cricket, Shikhar Dhawan led the Men in Blue during that tour. The ODI series ended in favour of the visiting team as they secured a 2-1 victory, while the hosts, Sri Lanka, claimed the T20I series by a 2-1 margin.
The announcement of the FTP by the SLC has sparked joy among the fans of Sri Lankan cricket. This comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) had earlier suspended the SLC due to alleged government interference, resulting in the relocation of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup from Sri Lanka to South Africa. However, the ban was later lifted, granting the SLC the green light to resume their cricket operations.
This upcoming series against India promises to be exciting, adding to the anticipation and fervor among cricket enthusiasts in both countries.
