[Saba Sports News] Kavya Maran, the CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad, was visibly thrilled as her team secured a decisive six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings on April 5, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Known for her unwavering support, Kavya is a constant presence at SRH matches, cheering on her team through both their triumphs and challenges.
The franchise, which won the IPL in 2016, has faced difficulties in recent seasons, finishing at the bottom of the league table in two of the last three years. Yet, under the leadership of Pat Cummins, SRH appears to be on the upswing, currently ranked fifth with two wins and two losses from four matches.
This recent win marked only the sixth time SRH has triumphed over CSK in their 20 encounters since 2013, making it a particularly sweet victory for Kavya and the team. Her excitement was palpable as she celebrated the win against the reigning champions.
The match began with Cummins opting to bowl, leading to a strong performance from the SRH bowlers who kept the CSK batsmen at bay. Apart from standout innings by Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja, the Chennai team struggled to gain momentum, ending their innings at 165/5.
Responding to this total, SRH’s opener Abhishek Sharma provided an explosive start, hitting 37 runs off just 12 balls. Contributions from Travis Head and Aiden Markram, who scored his first fifty of IPL 2024, propelled Hyderabad to victory with six wickets in hand and 11 balls remaining.
