[Saba Sports News] MS Dhoni’s belligerent knock of 37 runs drew praise from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming, who lauded the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman’s performance in a tense match.
In the IPL match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings, the former emerged victorious by 20 runs. While batting first, DC set a target of 192 runs, with Prithvi Shaw and David Warner laying a strong foundation, and Rishabh Pant finishing well. Chasing the target, CSK never quite found their rhythm. Dhoni provided a late spark with a quick 37 runs, but it wasn’t enough to overcome DC’s bowling attack.
“It was beautiful, wasn’t it?” Fleming said, acknowledging Dhoni’s crucial innings. “He has been playing incredibly well pre-season,” highlighting Dhoni’s good form leading up to the match.
Fleming further acknowledged Dhoni’s return from injury, stating, “He is coming back from quite a serious injury.”
Fleming didn’t shy away from praising Dhoni’s batting, saying, “His batting has been superb.”
Finally, Fleming applauded Dhoni’s cricketing nous, stating, “To get within 20 (runs of the target) run rate wise is important and he knows that. The way he played was spectacular.”
