[Saba Sports News] Star fast bowler Jofra Archer, sidelined since April due to a stress fracture sustained during IPL 2023, has been carefully managing his recovery. Initially taking a break to prepare for the Ashes 2023 or the ODI World Cup, Archer’s return to full fitness has been delayed. The England cricket management, prioritizing his health, has been patient with his rehabilitation. Surprisingly, Archer was recently seen playing for his old school team, Foundation, in Barbados.
In this unexpected appearance, Archer was outstanding, as reported by the official Barbados Cricket website. He claimed four wickets while conceding only 18 runs, showcasing his skill in both fast bowling and left-arm spin. This came as a surprise to the England team management, as Archer is currently on a strict recovery regimen.
England’s Director of Cricket, Rob Key, upon learning of this, stated his intention to gather more details before commenting publicly. Key emphasized a cautious approach with Archer, avoiding setting specific deadlines for his return. This strategy aims to avoid past errors and ensure Archer’s long-term career sustainability.
“I’m not aware of that, I’ll find out,” was Key’s response to inquiries about Archer’s cricketing activity, as per India Today. He further stressed the importance of giving Archer enough time for a complete recovery, considering his immense value to the team.
Presently, Archer is not considered for immediate selection, as he has not been included in England’s squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against India.
