[Saba Sports News] Despite their unexpected success in the NBA season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are facing adversity with injuries. Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that key player Evan Mobley is expected to be sidelined for a considerable period due to an ankle injury sustained in a recent victory against the Boston Celtics.
The injury, characterized by significant swelling, comes after Mobley, a pivotal defensive figure and last year’s All-Defensive First Team member, has been delivering a standout season, with personal bests in scoring, rebounding, and assists. Unfortunately, this isn’t his first time out this season, having missed substantial time earlier with a knee problem.
The Cavaliers, currently holding a strong position in the Eastern Conference, have also coped with injuries to stars Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland. Nonetheless, the team’s depth, with players like Jarrett Allen, Georges Niang, and Dean Wade stepping up, has kept them competitive and resilient in the face of these challenges.
