[Saba Sports News] The West Indies will face England in the first Test at Lord’s on July 10. Ahead of the match, King Charles invited the West Indies team to Buckingham Palace, interacting with each player and even attempting a five-step handshake before admitting it was too complicated.
Hurricane Beryl caused significant destruction in Jamaica, stranding the Indian team in Barbados after their T20 World Cup win. King Charles III expressed concern for those affected by the hurricane. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite thanked the King for hosting them and mentioned his interest in the King’s horses.
“I wish your horses all the best. We were honored to be invited, and it was a great opportunity for the whole team. Hurricane Beryl has been devastating, but we want to make West Indians proud and put a smile on their faces during these tough times,” Brathwaite said, as quoted by India Today.
The West Indies will play three Tests against England, with the series starting on July 10 and concluding on July 26. England has announced their playing XI, featuring debutants Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson, while Shoaib Bashir will make his home debut at Lord’s.
