[Saba Sports News] The Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 has commenced with thrilling clashes among the six participating teams, including the newly added Urbanrisers Hyderabad and Southern Super Stars. Excitingly, the tournament has expanded its horizons with matches scheduled in new venues: Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Visakhapatnam and Surat.
Exclusive to former retired cricket players worldwide, the LLC 2023 boasts the participation of renowned Indian cricket legends such as Gautam Gambhir, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif and Suresh Raina.
The initial leg concluded in Ranchi, with the last match between Urbanrisers Hyderabad and India Capitals, marking the transition to the next phase in Dehradun. Ranchi, the hometown of former Indian captain MS Dhoni, hosted the first five matches, creating an electrifying start to the tournament.
Following the Ranchi leg, Raman Raheja, CEO of LLC, shared moments captured with Dhoni on social media platform ‘X,’ hinting at the possibility of the iconic captain participating in future editions of the competition.
Raheja expressed gratitude for the warm reception in Dhoni’s town, stating, “Good start is half the battle won. We @llct20 came to Ranchi on a mission. Not just won hearts of thousands of fans but met the “Legend” in his town. Just Honoured!! It’s time to scale up and move ahead.”
Notably, Dhoni has retired from international cricket but still plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Raheja, envisioning the future of LLC, shared his aspiration to also persuade current cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to join the league after their retirement.
“My future plan is to position this as a second innings for players. And I would love to have MS Dhoni come and play sometime. Or may, all we know, five years later we have a Kohli vs Rohit take place,” Raheja said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
