Sports News] In a recent interview, Raisi, the coaching director of the
Malaysian Badminton Association, discussed the upcoming Thomas and Uber Cup,
scheduled to take place in China next month. During the interview, Raisi
addressed the players who would be participating in the tournament. He made a
significant announcement, stating that the women’s doubles team of Pearly Tan
Koong Le and Thinaah Muralitharan would not be attending the event as they
needed to focus on preparing for the Paris Olympics in July. Consequently, the
team’s composition for the tournament may consist of a combination of
experienced players and young talents. The editor believes that in terms of
significance, the Paris Olympics undoubtedly takes precedence as it represents
the ultimate goal for every badminton player. Additionally, participating in a
tournament carries the risk of potential injuries, which could impede the
players’ rhythm and performance. Thus, making a strategic decision to
prioritize the Olympics is not a bad choice. Moreover, this decision provides
an opportunity for young players to gain exposure and experience in
international competitions.
