[Saba Sports News] Indian cricketer and Karnataka team captain Mayank Agarwal has adopted a cautious approach to his health while flying, following a distressing incident last month where he became severely ill from drinking water from a pouch on a flight. Agarwal now opts to bring his own water bottle as a preventive measure.
The incident occurred on an Indigo flight from Tripura to Delhi, where Agarwal, mistaking a harmful substance for water, experienced immediate discomfort and a burning sensation, leading to his hospitalization in Agartala. He suffered from stomach pain, mouth ulcers, and swelling, symptoms of a dangerous ingestion.
Following this health scare, Agarwal, through his manager, filed a police complaint to investigate the mishap. This situation not only brought to light concerns regarding Agarwal’s health but also raised questions about in-flight safety measures.
Despite missing a subsequent Ranji Trophy game against Railways due to the incident, Agarwal made a comeback in the matches against Tamil Nadu and Chandigarh. Celebrating his return, Agarwal humorously referenced a popular dialogue from the film “Hera Pheri” in a social media post, signaling his reluctance to take further risks., ‘Bilkul risk nahi lene ka re baba.”
Looking ahead, Agarwal is set to join Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL 2024. Despite speculation about his future with the franchise, which acquired him for INR 8.25 crore, the team management continues to back him. The upcoming IPL season is crucial for Agarwal, potentially shaping the future of his T20 career.
