[Saba Sports News] Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitch Marsh has been sidelined from the Indian Premier League 2024 due to a hamstring injury. The 32-year-old sustained a tear in his right hamstring earlier in the tournament and has returned to Australia for further treatment. Unfortunately, he won’t recover in time for the remainder of the IPL.
Marsh is expected to lead the Australian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup, slated to begin on June 1. While his return timeline remains uncertain, he may skip practice matches to ensure readiness for the main tournament.
Delhi Capitals have yet to announce Marsh’s replacement. Considering Jake Fraser-McGurk’s successful stint after replacing Lungi Ngidi, the team might focus on signing a pace bowler, particularly with Anrich Nortje struggling. Free agent Josh Hazlewood could be a valuable addition to the team.
Currently, the Rishabh Pant-led side sits eighth on the points table with three wins in eight matches. To secure a playoff berth, they must avoid further setbacks. While Fraser-McGurk, Pant, and Tristan Stubbs have performed well, other batters need to step up.
Despite strong performances from Kuldeep and Axar Patel, the pacers need to improve. In their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the bowlers conceded 266 runs, resulting in a 67-run loss despite Delhi’s total of 199 runs with the bat.
