[Saba Sports News] India pacer Mohammed Shami fulfilled a special request from Deepti Sharma, posing for a photo with her brother at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai on August 21.
Shami, who was being photographed by paparazzi, happily obliged when Deepti asked him to take a picture with her brother. The heartwarming moment went viral on social media, earning Shami praise from fans.
Shami, 33, is on the brink of returning to professional cricket after undergoing Achilles tendon surgery following the ODI World Cup. The injury sidelined him for several months, causing him to miss the home series against England, IPL 2024, and the T20 World Cup.
While he hasn’t been named for the Duleep Trophy, Shami is expected to play in at least one Ranji Trophy match. The team management is likely to rest him during the Bangladesh series, focusing on his fitness for the upcoming Australia series.
However, Shami is expected to feature against New Zealand, starting October 16. He is currently training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, working closely with physios and trainers to regain full fitness by October.
Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma recently shined in The Hundred, helping London Spirit secure a win with a match-winning six. She scored 212 runs in eight matches, finishing as the seventh joint-leading run-scorer of the tournament.
