[Saba Sports News] Nepal nearly pulled off an upset against South Africa but fell just one run short. The Rohit Paudel-led side has shown promise in the ongoing T20 World Cup but has yet to secure a win, with two losses and one match called off due to rain. Nepal head coach Monty Desai remains determined to end the tournament on a high note and expects the team to put on a strong performance in their final group game against Bangladesh.
Ahead of the June 17 match, Desai emphasized that Nepal is focused on building their own story and aims to give their all against Bangladesh. While a win could jeopardize Bangladesh’s Super 8 spot, Desai stressed that Nepal’s goal is to create their own narrative. “We are building our story, not thinking about spoiling anyone else’s party. In the dressing room, we want to believe we crossed the line against South Africa and are now aiming for a win against Bangladesh to qualify for the Super Eight,” Desai revealed.
“If we bring that mentality and fight till the end, at least we will leave with the proud moment of winning. We want to put up a show,” he added. Desai highlighted the importance of mental strength for associate nations like Nepal and emphasized the significance of sticking to their process. “This is where mental strength is tested for a young Associate team like Nepal. It’s crucial to remember the processes that have helped us so far as we prepare to face Bangladesh,” Desai added.
