Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United is currently
under investigation by the Trafford Council following an incident where
numerous individuals fell ill after consuming undercooked chicken at an event
held at Old Trafford stadium. Manchester United’s current food hygiene rating
on the government website is listed as a level 5, which is the highest
achievable rating. However, this incident involving undercooked chicken could
potentially jeopardize that rating.
Any
business that is rated low by local authority food safety officers must make
urgent or major improvements to their hygiene standards. If it is determined
that there is an imminent risk to public health, where food may not be safe to
eat, certain operations may be halted or closed until it is deemed safe to
resume. Manchester United generates significant income from hosting events and
providing hospitality, but any downgrade in the club’s food hygiene rating
would have a disruptive impact. It could mean that Manchester United would have
to invest a substantial amount of money to improve the relevant protocols. The
process of regaining a higher rating can be time-consuming and would also
affect the club’s revenue in this area.
