[Saba Sports News] New Zealand’s all-rounder James Neesham announced on Thursday his plans to evaluate his future in international cricket after the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup, set to take place in the USA and West Indies from June. Currently, Neesham is playing for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Neesham shared his perspective, stating, “My immediate focus is on the T20 World Cup in the coming months, aiming to secure a victory for New Zealand. Post-tournament, I intend to reflect on my international career and decide whether to continue representing New Zealand or shift to playing T20 leagues full-time.” He also touched on the typical career span of an all-rounder, expressing his desire to maintain fitness and contribute to winning teams as long as possible.
Additionally, Neesham acknowledged Bangladesh as a potential surprise package in the T20 World Cup, commending the country’s cricketing growth, particularly in pace bowling. He recalled New Zealand’s recent challenges against Bangladesh, emphasizing the improved competitiveness of the Bangladeshi team, especially noted during their tour in New Zealand.
Highlighting the advancements in Bangladesh’s fast bowling, Neesham pointed out the threat posed by bowlers like Shoriful, who brings pace and bounce to the game. He concluded by stressing that Bangladesh’s performance in New Zealand signals their readiness for the World Cup, making them a team not to be underestimated.
