[Saba Sports News] Lando Norris, a driver for McLaren, has been
honored with the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy for his exceptional performance during
the 2023 Formula One season. The Lorenzo Bandini Trophy, established in 1992,
is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements
throughout the season. The recipients are selected by the Formula One Racing
Committee. The trophy serves as a tribute to the late Ferrari driver Lorenzo
Bandini, who won the Austrian Grand Prix in 1964 but tragically lost his life
in an accident at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1967. During the 2023 season, Lando
Norris secured a total of seven podium finishes, accumulating 205 driver
points. He finished the season in sixth place in the driver standings, with six
second-place finishes and one third-place finish to his name. Notably, Norris
made a strong bid for the podium in four consecutive races, earning him the media
nickname “Mr. No.2”. At just 24 years old, Norris has shown
tremendous potential in his fifth season in Formula One, making him a driver of
great importance to the McLaren team, which has placed a strong focus on his
development.
