[Saba Sports News] Following Pakistan’s underwhelming performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed its entire selection committee. There are speculations that Team Director Mickey Arthur might resign due to the team’s poor showing. Moreover, there’s a likelihood of significant changes in the coaching staff, with Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick facing possible removal.
Insider sources indicate the PCB’s preference for domestic coaches, hinting at a major overhaul in leadership to address the team’s issues. Reports also suggest Shahid Afridi might lead the new selection committee, with Younis Khan potentially joining as batting coach. Their first major assignment would be the upcoming Test series in Australia.
The PCB, under Zaka Ashraf’s leadership, is also searching for a new bowling coach following criticism of the team’s performance in the tournament hosted by India. With only four wins in nine matches, the team’s batting and bowling departments both struggled, highlighting the need for specialized coaching roles.
The changes began with Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation as Chief Selector following allegations of conflict of interest related to his role in a company involved with Pakistan players. The PCB has set up a committee to investigate these claims. This is Inzamam’s second term as chief selector, ending amidst similar controversies as his first tenure following the 2019 World Cup.
