[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia 76ers guard Patrick Beverley has acknowledged holding a longstanding grudge against his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate, Austin Reaves. Beverley, who played with Reaves during the 2022-23 season before his midseason trade to the Chicago Bulls, found himself in direct competition with Reaves shortly after the trade.
This tension escalated when Reaves made a “too small” gesture towards Beverley during a Lakers victory, a move that went viral and seemingly added fuel to Beverley’s animosity. In a recent game where the 76ers decisively beat the Lakers, Beverley focused on defending Reaves throughout the night, culminating in a notable confrontation in the third quarter.
Beverley openly discussed his vendetta against Reaves on his podcast, “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,” declaring his intention to target Reaves whenever they meet on the court. He emphasized that his approach was strictly professional, not personal. Additionally, Beverley reflected on a past incident where he defended Reaves against the Phoenix Suns, which resulted in his suspension for shoving Suns center Deandre Ayton.
“I didn’t want to guard anyone else but Austin Reaves last night. How dare you come in Chicago, in my hood, and hit me with the ‘too little’ and don’t think that I’m going to come for your neck. .. Every time I see the Lakers until I retire, whatever team Austin Reaves is on, I’m on his a–,” said Beverley. Beverley stated that it was “nothing personal” but rather “just business.”
