[Saba Sports News] On the “Podcast P” show, Paul George, the two-way guard, reminisced about a time Kobe Bryant saved the day at a party. George recounted how he was close to being charged thousands of dollars for drinks until Kobe stepped in and settled the entire bill. “I was panicking when the bottles arrived. We were by the sofas and suddenly felt a pull from behind… turned around, and there was Kobe. ‘Enjoy your night,’ he said, then left. I was stunned, and then a server told us, ‘Yeah, Kobe’s got you covered,’” George shared.
Although George couldn’t recall the exact cost of the drinks, he was initially overwhelmed by the potential expense. This incident highlighted Kobe Bryant’s generosity, a trait he often extended to his fellow athletes through various gestures of kindness.
The precise date of this event wasn’t mentioned by George, but it likely occurred around 2012. At that time, George was establishing his presence in the NBA. That summer, alongside John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, he was selected for the USA Select Team, with Bryant being an established icon. Despite his legendary status, Bryant showed a keen interest in nurturing the newer generation.
Bryant, known for his intense competitive spirit, was equally recognized for his leadership qualities. His tenure with Team USA showcased his influence and set a benchmark for leadership among NBA stars.
