[Saba Sports News] The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is gearing up to host the 2025 Champions Trophy, with preparations in full swing. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved significant upgrades for stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi to ensure they’re ready for the tournament.
Renovations are already underway at Karachi National Stadium, one of the key venues alongside Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.
The ICC has approved a $70 million budget to cover expenses, including warm-up matches, media, and promotional activities from February 12–18. The PCB has also allocated substantial funds for these upgrades, which will be completed before the tournament kicks off on February 19, with the final set for March 9, 2025.
Each participating team will have two warm-up matches in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
Recently, Mohsin Naqvi visited BDP Pattern’s London office and met with Chairman Chris Harding to discuss the progress of the stadium upgrades.
Naqvi emphasized the importance of these improvements in accommodating a large number of fans.
As for Pakistan’s upcoming schedule, they will face Bangladesh in a two-game Test series. The first Test starts on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and the second begins on August 30 at Karachi National Stadium.
These Tests are crucial for both teams in the World Test Championship standings.
