[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia police have raised doubts about Kelly Oubre Jr.’s reported hit-and-run incident. According to Max Marin, Ximena Conde, and Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, there’s no photo or video evidence of a collision at the reported intersection. Two local business employees who reviewed over two hours of surveillance footage also didn’t find any sign of an accident.
Sgt. Eric Gripp, the police department spokesperson, clarified that Oubre isn’t being accused of anything, and the investigation is ongoing. A source suggested that Oubre, who’s new to Philadelphia, might have misidentified the location of the crash. He was also reportedly disoriented due to injuries when he reported the incident to the police.
Despite the questions surrounding the event, Oubre’s injuries, including broken ribs, are not in doubt. He had been performing well for the 76ers, averaging 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, and is expected to recover and return this season.
