[Saba Sports News] India opener Abhishek Sharma hit a sensational century in his second international match against Zimbabwe. After a disappointing debut, the 23-year-old faced pressure, especially with Yashasvi Jaiswal joining the squad for the third T20I. However, Abhishek thrived under pressure, playing aggressively to score his maiden century.
After losing opening partner Shubman Gill early, Abhishek took his time to settle before unleashing a flurry of boundaries. He hit seven fours and eight sixes, scoring 100 runs off 47 balls. His crucial innings helped India post 234 runs and win by 100 runs.
Following the game, Abhishek called his mentor, legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj praised Abhishek’s performance, expressing pride and encouraging him to aim for more.
“I’m very proud. Well done. You deserve it. Many more to come. This is just the start,” Yuvraj told Abhishek on a video call.
Meanwhile, Yuvraj is in England, leading the India Champions in the ongoing World Championship of Legends. They will face the Australia Champions on July 8, featuring stars like Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch, and Brett Lee. India has struggled in the tournament, losing to Pakistan in their last match.
As for Abhishek, his spot in the third T20I isn’t guaranteed with Jaiswal joining the squad. Captain Gill is likely to stay, and Ruturaj has also performed well, making the final selection uncertain.
