[Saba Sports News] The toss in any cricket match is a noteworthy event, and the stakes are even higher during the final of a T20 World Cup. All eyes are on the coin flip, especially when conducted by Ravi Shastri, known for his entertaining approach. His remarks often leave the captains laughing, as seen in the T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa.
India’s captain Rohit Sharma and South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram couldn’t stop laughing as Shastri made punch and counter-punch references. He introduced Markram with, “In the green corner, ready to land an uppercut for the first time, South Africa captain Aiden Markram,” and Rohit Sharma with, “And punching all the way through the tournament is Rohit Sharma.”
The biggest laugh came when Shastri called match referee Richie Richardson the potential punching bag: “West Indies’ very own, the one there to keep things calm and be the potential punching bag, match referee Richie Richardson,” leaving everyone at the toss, including Richardson, in splits. Rohit won the toss and opted to bat first, anticipating the pitch to slow down as the match progressed.
