[Saba Sports News] Following the IPL 2024 auction, all ten franchises have finalized their squads for the tournament’s 17th edition. Chennai Super Kings, with five titles, share the record for most IPL victories with Mumbai Indians. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), however, has not won the IPL despite reaching the finals in 2008, 2011, and 2016.
A fan recently urged MS Dhoni, the captain of Chennai Super Kings, to join RCB in any capacity to help them secure their first trophy. Dhoni acknowledged RCB’s strength but mentioned the impact of player availability on a team’s success. “Cricket doesn’t always go according to plan,” Dhoni said, emphasizing the importance of a full squad for all teams. He expressed his inability to assist RCB, focusing on his responsibilities with CSK and wishing all teams well for the upcoming season.
“They’re a very good team but also what you need to see is in cricket everything doesn’t go according to plan. So, if you’re talking about IPL, all the ten teams more often than not, if they have the full players, all of them are very strong teams. The problem arises if you’re missing a few players because of injury or reasons like that,” said Dhoni at an event. “So, they’re a very good team and everybody has a fair chance in IPL. As of now, I’ve so many things to worry about in my own team so I would like to wish all the teams all the very best. But more than that I can’t really do much as of now because imagine me trying to come out of the way to support or help some other team then how will our fans feel.”
CSK defeated RCB in the 2011 IPL final and holds a dominant record against them, winning 20 of their 31 encounters. For IPL 2024, RCB has strengthened their squad with six new players, including Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, and Saurav Chauhan, hoping to end their long wait for an IPL title.
