[Saba Sports News] Las Vegas previously hosted the F1
Grand Prix in 1981-1982, but it became part of F1 history due to poor
tickets-sale performance after those seasons. This year, the Las Vegas Night Race
has made a comeback in the F1 calendar. The Las Vegas government invested over
£500 million and spent nine months preparing for the event. However, the lack
of experience in organising races has led to several conflicts, particularly
between local merchants and the organisers. One restaurant owner expressed
dissatisfaction, stating that fans had planned to enjoy the racing action
during the practice session. Unfortunately, due to issues with the concrete
structure surrounding the street manhole cover, the first practice session
abruptly ended after just 10 minutes, leaving fans with little time to order
food. The second practice session didn’t start until 2:30 a.m. local time, and
no fans were present. Additionally, since the Las Vegas Grand Prix is a road
race, it has necessitated road closures, severely impacting the business of
street restaurants.
