[Saba Sports News] Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has arrived in Dubai to attend the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, scheduled on December 19.
Pant will be overseeing the overseeing proceedings live from the Delhi Capitals auction table. This will also mark the first instance of an active captain attending an IPL auction from the venue.
DC retained Pant for IPL 2024. He missed the last season of the tournament as he had suffered multiple injuries from a car accident.
Since then, the wicketkeeper-batter is yet to return to field. However, he is expected to get fit in time for IPL 2024.
“I came for the auction because, you know, sometimes you want to explain it to people, the kind of player you want, and I feel if I’m able to do that I think most of the part is clear because playing also plays a part. But at the same time, if you can get the players whatever you want for the team, that would be the best thing” Pant said as quoted upon his arrival in Dubai.
Along with Pant, the Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting will also be present at the auction table. DC released their 11 players recently and are heading into the auction with a purse of INR 28.95 crore. They can fill in their squad with nine more players, out of which four can be overseas.
